Assistant, Chapman Learning Commons

Background:

Clare Yow is a graduate of UBC’s Master of Fine Arts Visual Art program in 2010, where during her studies, she taught the studio portion of foundation Visual Art classes in the Department of Art History, Visual Art, and Theory and was the M.F.A. Student Representative from 2008-2010. Prior to starting her position in the Learning Centre, Clare worked in non-for-profit, cultural, and government organizations, affording them with administrative and creative support. She maintains an active studio art practice.

Current role and responsibilities:

Clare joined the Learning Centre in August 2011, and provides support for the daily operation of the Chapman Learning Commons and other related programs and services at the Learning Centre. Working closely with the Managing Library, Student Development Coordinator, and the team of Chapman Learning Commons Assistants to ensure the smooth running of technology and services in the space, she provides information about and referrals to student academic support programs and learning opportunities. Additionally, Clare manages workshop and event bookings for the Dodson and Lillooet Rooms, the Portraits of Learning digital signage screens, and information and display booths in the main concourse of the Learning Centre.
