Student Development Officer, Learning

BACKGROUND

Based out of the Centre for Student Involvement, Erin Biddlecombe has worked closely with the Learning Centre team since October 2010. Prior to this, Erin worked as the Student Development Officer for UBC Engineering.  With an academic background in Higher Education Administration, Erin has been involved in the profession for a number of years and has served on several boards both locally and nationally. Currently, Erin holds the position of BC Chair, Board of Governors for the international professional organization NASPA (National Association for Student Affairs Professionals).  Erin is also a member of the UBC Vancouver Senate as a Convocation Senator for the 2011-2014 Triennium.  In this capacity, she sits on both the Teaching and Learning subcommittee and the Curriculum subcommittee.

CURRENT ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In her current role as the Student Development Officer, Learning, Erin works collaboratively with students, staff, and faculty to promote academic support and enhancement programming for undergraduates at UBC.  More specifically, she oversees the coordination of the Multidisciplinary Undergraduate Research Conference (MURC), the Conference for Learning and Academic Student Success (CLASS), and the Student Directed Seminars Program.  She also co-manages the Library Student Advisory Committee with Julie Mitchell, and the Learning Commons website initiative and funded projects with Julie Mitchell and Cindy Underhill.
